The State Fair of Texas – This enormous annual fair runs Sept 28 – Oct 21 this year – there are just two weeks left! Vivi and I went with her aunt and uncle when she was just 2 and had a great time. We sampled all kinds of crazy fair food, and saw enormous hogs.
Trinity Forest Adventure Park – A few minutes from downtown Dallas, this seven acre combination obstacle course and zip line park is designed for ages six and up. The courses are all self guided to allow everyone to move at their own pace.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science offers interactive exhibits where kids can milk a fake cow or dig for dinosaur bones in a sandbox,
The Fort Worth Stockyards were originally built to support the booming cattle industry. Starting with old fashioned cattle drives in the mid 1800’s, and starting in 1876 when the railroad arrived, and Fort Worth became a major shipping hub for cattle sent by rail. Now the Stockyards are a National Historic District and entertainment complex.
Six Flags Over Texas is halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth in Arlington and has something for every age group and adventure level.
