Looking for things to do in New York City with kids? There are countless family friendly activities and attractions in the city and nearby.

My sister recently took her 11 year old son, and 13 year old daughter and they fell in love with the city (these are her photos).

If you don’t have a ton of time, look into a tour! Guides are great at making the city fun and interesting for kids, and convenient for parents.

The Empire State Building– 1931 Art Deco skyscraper with 102nd Floor Observatory.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum – located on 42nd Street close to Times Square in New York City.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art – “the Met”, is the largest art museum in the United States.

Central Park – a National Historic Landmark since 1962, this 843 acre urban park offers hundreds of attractions including a carousel, and the Central Park Zoo.

The Highline Park and Walking Path – a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side.

SeaGlass Carousel – At the Battery Conservancy – is a magical, aquarium–themed carousel.

Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum – the only museum where visitors can experience the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid,

Children’s Museum of Manhattan – hands-on experiences so fun the kids won’t realize they’re learning.

One World Observatory – the SkyPod Elevators climb 102 stories in 47 seconds!

Imagination Playground – an interactive, transformable play space with foam blocks, mats, wagons, fabric, and crates.

Teardrop Park – a public park in lower Manhattan, in Battery Park City, near the site of the World Trade Center, designed by local landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.

Check out these other family friendly US cities.
