Take a day trip out of Stockholm to visit family friendly Nyckelvikens Herrgård Nature Reserve, a popular venue for weddings and events.

This 134 hectare reserve is home to a historic farmhouse complete with farm animals, a restored 18th century mansion, and museums, and it’s just 20 minutes away from Stockholm, in Nacka.

From the parking lot your first stop will be at the enormous hollow tree.

The kids will enjoy walking around the farm and visiting the animals. There are some beautiful chickens, and super relaxed pigs.

You can visit the cafe on the grounds for lunch, or pastries and coffee (fika) or pack your own food and choose a spot to have a picnic..

Explore the trails down to the rocky cliffs to take in the view across the water, or jump in for a swim to cool off .

If you plan to visit in May or June, take note of these special events where you can join the crowds of locals enjoying the festivities.

Valborg, the May Day Celebration, on May 1st, when Sweden greets Spring with enormous bonfires.

The Midsommar festivities in June rival Christmas as Sweden’s most important holiday and Nyckelvikens Herrgård is a great place to celebrate with the locals.
