Have you ever had a family travel nightmare? We have, and ever since I’m more prepared with travel essentials.

We arrived in Palm Springs the day of one of their worst flash floods. Our friend who was supposed to pick us up lost her car in the flood (yeah, her day was way worse than ours). We ended up spending 8 hours at the Palm Springs airport waiting. We checked with taxi drivers, but they told us it was pointless since the part of town we were heading to was completely cut off by high water.  We were finally rescued by a friend, and then another friend fed us dinner and handed me a bag of groceries so I wouldn’t have to shop before breakfast. ?

Apparently I need a disclaimer, so here it is – after the first paragraph so I don’t eff up my SEO. After years of being a happy Netflix customer, I’m now a member of the Netflix SteamTeam. I talk about how much I love Netflix, and I get a lot of free Twizzlers (and other cool stuff)! As always, all opinions are my own including my suggestions for Netflix shows.

When we travel, we carry gel pens, paper, journals, activity books, and of course electronics.  1 in 5 Canadian parents say one of their main concerns when traveling is keeping their kids entertained. At the time of that trip we relied on airport wifi to stream movies, and it wasn’t good.  Now we have access to offline viewing on Netflix to keep us entertained, on the ground and in the air. Netflix downloads are a must-have travel essential for parents and kids. So when it’s time to go on a trip together, one thing is for sure: when Netflix at home becomes Netflix on the go, everyone stays content, engaged and, most importantly, NOT bored.

New Available for Download menu

No matter if it’s for your littlest one, pre-teen or anyone in between, there are Netflix shows for everyone in the family to pack in their carry-on. And it’s not just Netflix originals, check out the ‘Available for Download’ menu on the Netflix app on your mobile or tablet device and browse all of the titles available to take with you whenever and wherever you want.

Sound familiar? The official Netflix Family downloads jingle is taking a page from the infamous melody of the Orange is the New Black theme song. While vacationing may be easy, getting there is hard, and being trapped in the car on a family road trip can feel like being in Litchfield. This cute and relatable parody will have you humming along for the whole ride.
